Sloppy Joe Biscuit Casserole

Savory Sloppy Joe filling meets buttery, golden biscuits for a family-friendly meal that’s simple and delicious.

Ingredients

For the Sloppy Joe mixture:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil, chopped (for garnish)

For the biscuit layer:

  • 1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (or homemade)
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) & grease a 9×13” baking dish.

Step 2: In a skillet over medium heat, cook beef, onion & bell pepper until meat is browned.

Drain excess fat.

Step 3: Stir in garlic & cook 1 min. Add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar & Worcestershire sauce.

Simmer 5-10 min until thickened. Season with salt & pepper.

Step 4: Spread Sloppy Joe mixture evenly in the baking dish.

Arrange biscuit dough on top.

Step 5: Bake 15-20 min until biscuits are golden brown & cooked through.

Step 6: Sprinkle with cheddar & bake 5-10 min more until melted.

Let cool slightly before serving, sprinkle with chopped basil. Serve & enjoy!
