Sloppy Joe Biscuit Casserole

A hearty, comforting twist on a classic American favorite!

Ingredients
  

For the Sloppy Joe mixture:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 1 bell pepper chopped, optional
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Fresh basil chopped, for garnish

For the biscuit layer:

  • 1 can biscuit dough, refrigerated or homemade 16.3 oz
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) & grease a 9×13” baking dish.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook beef, onion & bell pepper until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
  • Stir in garlic & cook 1 min. Add ketchup, mustard, brown sugar & Worcestershire sauce. Simmer 5-10 min until thickened. Season with salt & pepper.
  • Spread Sloppy Joe mixture evenly in the baking dish. Arrange biscuit dough on top.
  • Bake 15-20 min until biscuits are golden brown & cooked through.
  • Sprinkle with cheddar & bake 5-10 min more until melted. Let cool slightly before serving, sprinkle with chopped basil. Serve & enjoy!
