  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 5 tbsp butter, divided
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth, warmed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Soak panko bread crumbs in milk for 10 minutes. Sauté onions in olive oil and 1 tbsp butter until translucent.

Add garlic and oregano, and cook for 1-2 more minutes.

Step 2: In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, sautéed onions, garlic, oregano, salt, pepper, egg, and soaked bread crumbs.

Form into 20 meatballs.

Step 3: In the same skillet, brown the meatballs on all sides, working in batches. Transfer to a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven.

Step 4: In the skillet, melt 4 tbsp butter, whisk in flour, and cook until golden brown.

Slowly stir in warmed beef broth and cook until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 5: Stir in heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, and Dijon mustard. Simmer the sauce until creamy.

Step 6: Return the meatballs to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 10 minutes. Serve with noodles or mashed potatoes.
