Crab Rangoon Dip

Crab Rangoon Dip is a creamy, cheesy appetizer that brings all the delicious flavors of the classic Crab Rangoon wonton into an easy, shareable dish.

Perfect for parties or game day, this warm dip combines rich cream cheese, savory crab meat, and a hint of garlic, all baked until bubbly and golden. Serve it with crispy wonton chips or crackers, and watch it disappear!

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 lb (about 1 cup) lump crab meat (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1-2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional garnish: additional chopped green onions, chives, or parsley

For serving:

Wonton chips (baked or fried), crackers, or tortilla chips

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream. Mix until smooth.

Step 3: Stir in mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Step 4: Gently fold in the crab meat and chopped green onions, being careful not to break up the crab too much.

Step 5: Spoon the mixture into a baking dish (about 8×8 inches or similar size) and spread evenly. Smooth the top.

Step 6: Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the dip is hot and bubbly, with a golden-brown top.

Step 7: Remove from oven and garnish with additional green onions or chives, if desired. Serve hot with wonton chips, crackers, or tortilla chips.

Tips for Making Crab Rangoon Dip

1. Use Quality Crab Meat: Fresh lump crab meat is best for a rich flavor, but canned or imitation crab can work if you’re on a budget or want convenience. If using canned crab, drain it well to avoid a watery dip.

2. Room Temperature Cream Cheese: Soften the cream cheese to room temperature before mixing. This makes it easier to blend with other ingredients, resulting in a smoother, creamier dip.

3. Adjust Seasonings to Taste: Taste the mixture before baking and adjust the salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce to your preference. For extra flavor, try adding a splash of soy sauce or a dash of Old Bay seasoning.

4. Mix-in Options: Add a few dashes of hot sauce for a spicy kick, or some finely chopped red bell pepper for extra color and flavor. You could also add a little fresh lemon juice for brightness.

5. Prevent Over-Browning: If the top is browning too quickly in the oven, cover the dish with foil to finish baking without overcooking the top.
