Cheesy Texas Toast

This Cheesy Texas Toast is garlicy, cheesy, and a perfect addition to your favorite pasta dishes. You can eat it right away or freeze it for later.

Say hello to the cheesiest and most delicious homemade Texas toast recipe. Do you ever buy a loaf of pre-made Texas toast in an aluminum sleeve? Us, too. It’s delicious!

Today we are sharing our version of crunchy Texas toast that has quite a bit more garlic than the pre-packaged version and we are very happy about it.

To Make This Cheesy Texas Toast, You Will Need

BREAD For the best garlic cheese toast, you want to use thickly sliced white bread, either regular or sourdough. At the supermarket, it is sometimes in the frozen section and called “Texas Toast.” Look for bread that is thick enough to hold the toppings and thick enough for dipping into soups and sauces!

BUTTER Use butter for the best results. Margarine will work as well, but won’t have quite the flavor that butter does!

CHEESE I used cheddar, Monterey Jack, and parmesan cheese. Feel free to use any cheese you have on hand! Mozza, Emmental, or Swiss will all taste great!

GARLIC Fresh, minced garlic really kicks this up a notch. Add more or less depending on your love for garlic!

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of Texas Toast or thick white bread
  • 1/2 cup of grated cheese (cheddar, mozzarella or a blend)
  • 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced (optional)

How To Make Cheesy Texas Toast

Step 1: Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).

Step 2: Place bread slices on a baking sheet.

Step 3: In a small bowl, mix together melted butter and minced garlic (if using).

Step 4: Brush the mixture evenly on both sides of the bread slices. Sprinkle grated cheese evenly on top of each slice.

Step 5: Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown. Serve hot and enjoy your Cheesy Texas Toast.

Tips:

Cheese Selection: Choose your favorite cheese for this recipe. Common options include cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend of cheeses. Grated cheese melts more evenly.

Garlic Butter: For extra flavor, consider using garlic butter or adding minced garlic to the butter before spreading it on the bread.

Baking Time: Keep a close eye on the toasting process to prevent burning. The toast should be golden brown and the cheese bubbly.

Preheat the Oven: Ensure your oven is fully preheated to the recommended temperature before baking to achieve the desired texture.
