Brazilian Shepherd’s Pie (Escondidinho De Carne)

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 200 g mozzarella cheese
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Olive oil, to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh thyme, optional

Instructions

Step 1: Peel and halve the potatoes. Boil in salted water until soft.

Mash with butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Set aside.

Step 2: Heat olive oil in a pan. Sauté onion and garlic until golden and fragrant.

Step 3: Add ground beef. Season with salt and pepper.

Cook until browned and liquid evaporates. Stir in chives.
