Tennessee Onions Cheesy Bake

A rich, cheesy baked onion dish featuring sweet onion slices layered with melted cheese, butter, and herbs, baked until golden and tender.

Ingredients
  

Cheeses

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Monterey Jack cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Vegetables

  • 3 –4 large sweet onions

Seasonings and Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or oregano
  • Chopped parsley optional

Other

  • 4 tablespoons butter melted

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Peel and slice onions into ¼-inch rounds, then separate into rings.
  • Grease a baking dish and arrange onion slices evenly in a single layer.
  • Mix cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan in a bowl.
  • Sprinkle the cheese mixture evenly over the onions.
  • Drizzle melted butter and season with garlic powder, salt, pepper, and herbs.
  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with parsley and serve.
