Sweet Blackberry Dumplings
Blackberry Dumplings are soft, fluffy dumplings cooked in a warm, sweet blackberry sauce, creating a simple yet satisfying dessert that’s perfect for sharing.
For the Blackberry Sauce
- 1 quart fresh or frozen blackberries rinsed
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon lemon extract
For the Dumplings
- 1 ½ cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ⅔ cup milk
Simmer blackberries with water, sugar, salt, and lemon extract for 5 minutes.
Mix dry ingredients with milk to form soft dough.
Drop spoonfuls into simmering sauce.
Cover and cook 15 minutes on low heat.
Check and serve hot.
