Spinach Puff Pastry Christmas Trees
Spinach Puff Pastry Christmas Trees are flaky, golden pastries filled with a creamy spinach and cheese mixture, shaped into festive trees and baked until crisp and melty.
- 1 sheet puff pastry thawed but still cold
- 1 cup frozen chopped spinach thawed and squeezed very dry
- ½ cup garlic and herb cream cheese
- ½ cup shredded cheese such as cheddar or mozzarella
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon water
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds optional
Thaw the puff pastry until just pliable, then unfold on a lightly floured surface and gently even out the thickness.
Cut the pastry into 1 inch wide strips, yielding about 6 to 8 strips.
Mix dried spinach, cream cheese, shredded cheese, and a pinch of salt and pepper until smooth.
Coil each pastry strip into a tree shape, adding small amounts of filling between layers and pressing gently to hold.
Transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle with sesame seeds if using.
Bake at 400°F for 15 to 18 minutes until puffed and golden, then cool slightly before serving.
