Soft Delia Smiths Fruity Scones

Delia Smiths Soft and Fruity Scones are light, tender, and filled with sweet dried fruit, perfect for breakfast, tea time, or a simple homemade treat.

Ingredients
  

  • 225 g self raising flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 50 g butter softened
  • 25 g caster sugar
  • 50 g mixed dried fruit
  • 1 large egg
  • Milk to make 150ml total with the egg

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan), line tray.
  • Mix flour and baking powder.
  • Rub in butter until crumbly.
  • Stir in sugar and dried fruit.
  • Mix egg and milk to 150ml.
  • Combine into soft dough, don’t overmix.
  • Roll to 2 to 3 cm, cut shapes.
  • Bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
  • Cool slightly, serve warm.
