Sesame Chicken

This recipe is perfect for a quick meal that doesn't sacrifice flavor.

Ingredients
  

For the chicken:

  • 500 g chicken breasts cut into cubes
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Cooking oil for frying

For the sauce:

  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 4 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch

For garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Chopped green onions

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, mix the chicken cubes with minced garlic, light soy sauce, salt, black pepper, egg, and cornstarch. Mix well.
  • Add the all-purpose flour to the mixture and coat the chicken evenly. Set aside.
  • Heat cooking oil over medium heat for 3-4 minutes.
  • Fry the chicken pieces until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In a separate pan, add a little cooking oil and sauté some chopped green onions over medium-low heat.
  • Add the chicken broth, light soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, sesame oil, and white vinegar to the pan. Stir well.
  • In a small bowl, mix water with cornstarch.
  • Add this mixture to the sauce and cook on low heat for 8-10 minutes until thickened.
  • Add the fried chicken to the sauce and mix well for about a minute.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds and more chopped green onions. Serve with rice and enjoy!
