Savory Bourbon Chicken
Bourbon Chicken is a rich and flavorful dish made with tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet, savory sauce with hints of garlic, ginger, and soy. Perfect for a quick family dinner served over rice.
- 4 large chicken breasts chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- ½ tsp pepper
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ cup apple juice or bourbon
- ¼ cup ketchup
- ½ cup soy sauce
- ¼ cup water
- ⅔ cup brown sugar
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- 3 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- ¼ cup green onions sliced
Chop chicken, pat dry, toss with cornstarch.
Heat oil, cook chicken until no longer pink, drain, then brown.
Whisk all sauce ingredients until smooth.
Pour sauce into pan, scrape bits, bring to boil.
Reduce heat, simmer 5–7 minutes until thick.
Rest 5 minutes, serve over rice, add green onions.
