Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups
Sausage French Toast Roll-Ups are a savory twist on classic French toast. Ground sausage, seasoned with spices and cheese, is wrapped in flattened bread, dipped in egg mixture, and pan-fried to golden perfection. Perfect for breakfast or brunch, they’re a delicious, crowd-pleasing treat.
For the Roll-Ups:
- 4 slices of bread preferably thick-cut
- ½ lb ground breakfast sausage mild or spicy
- 2-3 large eggs
- ½ cup milk
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- Butter for pan-frying
Optional Flavor Boosters:
- ½ cup shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese
- 2 tbsp chopped chives or parsley
- Hot sauce for a kick
Trim the crusts and flatten each slice of bread with a rolling pin.
Brown the ground sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess grease and set aside to cool.
Spoon sausage onto one end of each flattened bread slice. Add cheese if desired, then roll tightly and seal the seam.
Whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Dip each roll-up in the mixture, letting the excess drip off.
Heat butter in a skillet over medium heat. Cook roll-ups seam-side down for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.
