Roasted Asparagus With Garlic, Bacon, Cheese
Roasted Asparagus with Garlic, Bacon, and Cheese is a savory, simple side dish that combines fresh asparagus, crispy bacon, melted cheese, and bold garlic flavor—perfect for a weeknight dinner or a holiday table centerpiece.
- 1 bunch about 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 4 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
- ½ cup shredded cheese Parmesan, Gruyère, or Asiago
Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). While it’s heating, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil to prevent sticking.
Lay the trimmed asparagus spears out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the olive oil over them, then sprinkle with minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if you like a touch of heat. Use your hands or tongs to toss everything together until the asparagus is well coated.
Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 10–12 minutes. The asparagus should be tender yet slightly crisp, with lightly browned tips. Avoid overcooking—it can become mushy quickly.
Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the asparagus, then top with the shredded cheese of your choice.
Return the tray to the oven and bake for an additional 2–3 minutes, just until the cheese melts and begins to bubble. You can broil for 30 seconds for a golden top—just watch it closely.
Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy immediately while warm. Add a squeeze of lemon juice if desired, or serve alongside your favorite main dish.
