Roasted Asparagus With Garlic, Bacon, Cheese

Roasted Asparagus with Garlic, Bacon, and Cheese is a savory, simple side dish that combines fresh asparagus, crispy bacon, melted cheese, and bold garlic flavor—perfect for a weeknight dinner or a holiday table centerpiece.

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch about 1 lb fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • ½ cup shredded cheese Parmesan, Gruyère, or Asiago

Instructions

  • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). While it’s heating, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Lay the trimmed asparagus spears out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle the olive oil over them, then sprinkle with minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if you like a touch of heat. Use your hands or tongs to toss everything together until the asparagus is well coated.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven and roast for 10–12 minutes. The asparagus should be tender yet slightly crisp, with lightly browned tips. Avoid overcooking—it can become mushy quickly.
  • Carefully remove the baking sheet from the oven. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the asparagus, then top with the shredded cheese of your choice.
  • Return the tray to the oven and bake for an additional 2–3 minutes, just until the cheese melts and begins to bubble. You can broil for 30 seconds for a golden top—just watch it closely.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and enjoy immediately while warm. Add a squeeze of lemon juice if desired, or serve alongside your favorite main dish.
