Patty Melts with Secret Sauce
Patty Melts with Secret Sauce are a juicy, toasted sandwich with caramelized onions, melted cheese, and a creamy, tangy sauce. Perfectly balanced, flavorful, and easy to make for any meal.
For the Patty Melts
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion thinly sliced
- 8 slices rye or sourdough bread
- 8 slices Swiss or American cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- Salt & pepper to taste
For the Secret Sauce
- ½ cup mayonnaise
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp pickle relish optional
Melt butter and caramelize sliced onions in a skillet for 10–12 minutes, then set aside.
Divide ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper.
Cook patties in the skillet 3–4 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked; set aside.
Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and pickle relish for the secret sauce.
Butter one side of each bread slice; layer cheese, patty, caramelized onions, and sauce on the unbuttered side, then top with the second slice.
Grill sandwiches in the skillet 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cheese melts, pressing gently; serve immediately.
