Patty Melts with Secret Sauce

Patty Melts with Secret Sauce are a juicy, toasted sandwich with caramelized onions, melted cheese, and a creamy, tangy sauce. Perfectly balanced, flavorful, and easy to make for any meal.

Ingredients
  

For the Patty Melts

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion thinly sliced
  • 8 slices rye or sourdough bread
  • 8 slices Swiss or American cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Secret Sauce

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp pickle relish optional

Instructions
 

  • Melt butter and caramelize sliced onions in a skillet for 10–12 minutes, then set aside.
  • Divide ground beef into 4 patties and season with salt and pepper.
  • Cook patties in the skillet 3–4 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked; set aside.
  • Mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and pickle relish for the secret sauce.
  • Butter one side of each bread slice; layer cheese, patty, caramelized onions, and sauce on the unbuttered side, then top with the second slice.
  • Grill sandwiches in the skillet 3–4 minutes per side until golden and cheese melts, pressing gently; serve immediately.
