One-Pan Tangy Honey BBQ Chicken Penne
One-Pan Tangy Honey BBQ Chicken Penne is a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner made with tender chicken, pasta, and a rich honey barbecue sauce, all cooked together in one skillet for easy cleanup.
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
- 1 cup honey barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Optional Garnishes:
- Chopped fresh parsley
- Crushed red pepper flakes
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Shredded mozzarella cheese
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add chicken, season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Cook 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
Pour in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits from the pan.
Stir in BBQ sauce and soy sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
Add uncooked penne and enough water to just cover. Cover and simmer 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
Add chicken back to the skillet. Stir and simmer 2–3 more minutes to combine.
Adjust seasoning. Top with parsley, red pepper flakes, or shredded cheese. Serve warm.
