One-Pan Tangy Honey BBQ Chicken Penne

One-Pan Tangy Honey BBQ Chicken Penne is a quick and flavorful weeknight dinner made with tender chicken, pasta, and a rich honey barbecue sauce, all cooked together in one skillet for easy cleanup.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 8 ounces uncooked penne pasta
  • 1 cup honey barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • Optional Garnishes:
  • Chopped fresh parsley
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add chicken, season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Cook 6–8 minutes until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  • Pour in chicken broth and scrape up browned bits from the pan.
  • Stir in BBQ sauce and soy sauce. Simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add uncooked penne and enough water to just cover. Cover and simmer 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until pasta is tender and most liquid is absorbed.
  • Add chicken back to the skillet. Stir and simmer 2–3 more minutes to combine.
  • Adjust seasoning. Top with parsley, red pepper flakes, or shredded cheese. Serve warm.
