Preheat to 175°C (350°F) so the buns bake evenly without drying out.
Brown beef in a skillet over medium-high heat for 6–8 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks. Drain excess fat.
Stir in Italian seasoning and pizza sauce. Simmer for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened and fragrant.
Arrange bun halves, cut-side up, on a baking tray. No need to toast—oven will crisp them perfectly.
Spoon beef mixture over buns and top generously with shredded cheddar.
Bake for 12 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. For a crispier top, broil for 1–2 minutes at the end.
Cap each with the top bun, rest for a minute, and serve warm.
