Old-Fashioned Fried Apple Pies

Crispy, sweet, and irresistible, these Fried Pies with apple or peach filling are a nostalgic treat perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz dried apples
  • 1 cup water
  • cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp cinnamon or apple pie spice
  • 1 can jumbo refrigerated flaky biscuits
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions
 

  • Combine dried apples and water in a saucepan; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 30 minutes or until tender.
  • Mash slightly if pieces are large. Stir in sugar, butter, and cinnamon, then set aside to cool.
  • Roll each biscuit into a 5-inch circle. Place 1 tbsp of apple mixture on half of each circle.
  • Moisten edges with water, fold in half, and press with a fork to seal.
  • Heat oil in a skillet to 370°F (185°C). Fry pies in batches until golden brown, flipping once.
  • Drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream, if desired.
