Mozzarella Fried Cheese Bites

These crispy, golden mozzarella fried cheese bites are a quick and easy snack made with just a few simple ingredients. Each bite is crunchy on the outside and melty on the inside—perfect for game day, family gatherings, or anytime snacking.

Ingredients

  • 10 sticks mozzarella string cheese
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • Cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  • Slice each mozzarella stick into 3–4 equal pieces. Keep the sizes uniform so they cook evenly.
  • In one bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together. Place flour in a second bowl and breadcrumbs in a third. Line them up in this order: flour, egg mix, breadcrumbs.
  • Roll each piece in flour, dip into the egg mix, then press into breadcrumbs. For extra crunch, dip again into the egg and breadcrumbs.
  • Place the coated bites on a plate and freeze for 15–20 minutes to help the coating stay intact during frying.
  • Pour 2 inches of vegetable oil into a skillet. Heat over medium until it reaches 350°F. Drop in a breadcrumb—if it sizzles, it’s ready.
  • Carefully lower 5–7 bites into the hot oil. Fry for about 30 seconds, or until golden. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
  • Transfer to paper towels to drain. Let them cool slightly, then serve warm with marinara or your favorite dip.
