Cream Cheese Banana Bread with Crumb Topping is a soft, moist loaf layered with a rich cream cheese filling and finished with a cinnamon streusel topping and light vanilla glaze.
For the Cinnamon Streusel Topping
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 Tablespoons light brown sugar
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 3 Tablespoons melted butter
- 2 Teaspoons chopped pecans optional
For the Banana Bread Batter
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅓ cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 egg white
- 1 cup mashed bananas about 2 medium bananas
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup miniature chocolate chips
- ¼ cup chopped pecans
For the Cream Cheese Filling
- 6 oz cream cheese room temperature
- 3 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg yolk
For the Vanilla Glaze
- ⅔ cup powdered sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 to 5 teaspoons milk
Mix the streusel ingredients until crumbly and set aside.
Preheat the oven, prepare the pan, and mix the banana batter with add-ins.
Beat the cream cheese filling until smooth.
Layer the batter and filling, add streusel on top, then bake for 55–65 minutes.
Mix the glaze and drizzle over the cooled bread.
