Low Carb Philly Cheesesteak Casserole
A hearty low carb casserole inspired by the classic Philly cheesesteak, combining savory beef, peppers, onions, cream cheese, and melted provolone for a comforting oven baked dish.
- 1 lb ground beef or thinly sliced steak
- 1 green bell pepper sliced
- 1 small onion sliced
- 1 cup shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
- 4 oz cream cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional garlic powder
- Optional sliced mushrooms or hot peppers
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s ready for baking.
Cook ground beef or sliced steak in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, then drain excess fat.
Add sliced bell pepper and onion and cook about 5 minutes until softened and fragrant.
Stir in cream cheese with salt, pepper, and garlic powder if using, mixing until creamy and well combined.
Lightly grease a baking dish and spread the meat mixture evenly inside.
Sprinkle shredded provolone or mozzarella on top and add optional mushrooms or hot peppers if desired.
Bake for about 20 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes bubbly and lightly golden.
Let the casserole rest 3–5 minutes before serving so it sets slightly.
