Homemade McGriddle

A homemade twist on the McGriddle: fluffy pancake buns, crispy sausage or bacon, melty cheese, a fried egg, and maple syrup for the perfect savory-sweet breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 5 eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup (plus extra for drizzling)
  • 4 breakfast sausage patties (slices of bacon)
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • Butter or oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  • Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the egg, milk, melted butter, and maple syrup, then mix until just combined.
  • Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and grease with butter or oil. Pour small rounds of batter (3–4 inches wide) onto the pan.
  • Cook for 1–2 minutes until bubbles form, flip, and cook for another 1–2 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.
  • Cook the sausage patties (5–6 minutes per side) or bacon (4–5 minutes per side) in a separate pan until crispy. Set aside.
  • In the same pan, fry eggs to your liking, using an egg ring for round eggs. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side. Set aside.
  • Place a pancake on a plate. Add a sausage patty or bacon, a slice of cheese, and a fried egg. Top with another pancake. Drizzle with maple syrup and serve hot!
