Homemade Focaccia (Italian Bread)

A simple, flavorful bread perfect for any occasion. It’s wonderfully customizable with your favorite toppings and herbs!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh thyme
  • ½ cup coarse sea salt optional
  • ¼ cup extra-virgin olive oil for brushing

Instructions
 

  • Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let rise for 5-10 minutes.
  • Mix flour, salt, olive oil, rosemary, and thyme in a large bowl.
  • Add yeast mixture and knead for 10-15 minutes until smooth.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover and rise for 1-2 hours, until doubled.
  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Punch down dough and transfer to a greased baking sheet.
  • Dimple dough with fingers, brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with sea salt. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden.
