Homemade Five Guys Burger Copycat

A homemade twist on the Five Guys classic: juicy, thin patties seasoned well, doubled up with American cheese, nestled in toasted sesame buns, and loaded with customizable toppings.

Ingredients

  • 8 Schweid & Sons hamburger patties
  • 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
  • 4 slices Kraft Deli Deluxe American cheese
  • Seasoning salt e.g., Lawry’s or Morton’s
  • Cracked black pepper
  • Condiments: hot sauce mayonnaise, ketchup
  • Optional toppings: lettuce tomato, red onion, pickles, grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, chopped bacon

Instructions

  • Flatten each patty to 6 inches using a press or pan. Season with salt and pepper. Separate with parchment.
  • Heat skillet or griddle over medium-high until hot.
  • Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side, seasoning the second side after flipping. Toast buns face-down in another pan.
  • Flip and press patties with a spatula. Cook 3–5 minutes more.
  • Place cheese on patties. Stack two patties cheese-to-cheese.
  • Top bun: mayo and hot sauce. Bottom bun: three ketchup rings. Add patties and toppings.
  • Wrap burgers in foil. Rest 1–2 minutes, then serve hot.
