Homemade Five Guys Burger Copycat
A homemade twist on the Five Guys classic: juicy, thin patties seasoned well, doubled up with American cheese, nestled in toasted sesame buns, and loaded with customizable toppings.
- 8 Schweid & Sons hamburger patties
- 4 sesame seed hamburger buns
- 4 slices Kraft Deli Deluxe American cheese
- Seasoning salt e.g., Lawry’s or Morton’s
- Cracked black pepper
- Condiments: hot sauce mayonnaise, ketchup
- Optional toppings: lettuce tomato, red onion, pickles, grilled onions, sautéed mushrooms, chopped bacon
Flatten each patty to 6 inches using a press or pan. Season with salt and pepper. Separate with parchment.
Heat skillet or griddle over medium-high until hot.
Cook patties 3–4 minutes per side, seasoning the second side after flipping. Toast buns face-down in another pan.
Flip and press patties with a spatula. Cook 3–5 minutes more.
Place cheese on patties. Stack two patties cheese-to-cheese.
Top bun: mayo and hot sauce. Bottom bun: three ketchup rings. Add patties and toppings.
Wrap burgers in foil. Rest 1–2 minutes, then serve hot.
