Homemade Apple Crumble
This easy homemade apple crumble is a warm, cozy dessert made with tender spiced apples and a golden oat topping. Perfect for busy weeknights, holidays, or just-because baking.
For the Apple Filling:
- 6 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup rolled oats
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
- Pinch of salt
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9-inch baking dish.
Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well coated.
Spread the apple mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Cut in cold butter until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the crumble topping over the apples without pressing it down.
Bake for 40–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the filling is bubbling.
Let cool for 10–15 minutes before serving.
