Fried cabbage with bacon is a quick, savory, and comforting skillet dish made with smoky bacon, tender cabbage, onion, and garlic—perfect for weeknight dinners or as a hearty side.

Ingredients
  

  • 6 slices bacon chopped
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 medium head of cabbage chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt adjust to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika optional, for extra flavor
  • 2 tablespoons chicken broth or water optional, for softer texture

Instructions
 

  • Cook chopped bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, then remove and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
  • Add diced onion and cook until softened and golden, then stir in garlic for a minute until fragrant.
  • Mix in chopped cabbage with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using, tossing to coat in the bacon drippings.
  • Cook 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender but slightly crisp, adding a splash of broth or water if you want it softer.
  • Stir the bacon back in, adjust seasoning, and serve hot.
