Fluffy Caramelized Onion And Gruyère Cottage Cheese Bake
A savory, protein-rich bake made with caramelized onions, cottage cheese, and nutty Gruyère—fluffy, flavorful, and comforting, perfect for brunch or dinner.
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
- 2 cups cottage cheese
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese divided
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Melt butter in a skillet over medium-low. Add sliced onions and cook 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and sweet. Set aside.
Heat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9-inch pie or baking dish.
Whisk cottage cheese and eggs in a bowl. Stir in ¾ cup Gruyère, thyme, salt, pepper, and onions.
Pour into dish and top with remaining ¼ cup Gruyère.
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes until puffed, golden, and set in the center.
Cool for 10 minutes, then slice and serve warm or at room temp.
