Favorite Gingerbread Cookies
Favorite Gingerbread Cookies are soft, warmly spiced holiday cookies made with molasses, brown sugar, and aromatic spices. Perfect for decorating and gifting.
- 3 and ½ cups all purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground ginger
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- ½ teaspoon ground cloves
- 10 tablespoons unsalted butter softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ⅔ cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: cookie icing royal icing, or buttercream
Whisk flour, baking soda, salt, and spices.
Beat butter, brown sugar, and molasses; add egg and vanilla.
Add dry ingredients, mix, divide dough, wrap, and chill 3 hours.
Roll to ¼ inch, cut shapes, place on lined sheets.
Bake at 350°F for 9–10 minutes.
Cool fully, then decorate.
