Easy Turkish Pizza

If you’ve never tried Turkish Pide (Turkish Pizza), this is your sign to make it!

Ingredients
  

Dough:

  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 tsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil

Meat topping:

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 small onion finely chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1/2 red bell pepper chopped
  • Bunch of parsley chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato + red pepper paste
  • 1/2 finely chopped tomato
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Additional toppings:

  • Mozzarella cheese
  • Akawai cheese
  • Sujuk (meat sausage)
  • Shishito peppers
  • For finishing:
  • 2-3 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 whisked egg for egg wash
  • Sesame seeds & black seeds optional
  • Cornmeal for dusting
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Make the dough by combining the water, yeast, and sugar. Mix the flour, salt, and olive oil into the yeast mixture.
  • Knead the dough until smooth. Let it rest for 1 hour.
  • Prepare the meat topping by cooking ground beef with onion, bell peppers, parsley, tomato paste, tomato, and seasonings. Set aside.
  • Preheat your oven to 495°F (or as high as it goes) and heat for at least 1 hour.
  • Use a thin cutting board dusted with cornmeal for easy transfer of the pide. Roll the dough thin and shape it like a boat.
  • Add the meat topping or your preferred toppings like mozzarella, Akawai cheese, or sujuk.
  • Brush the edges of the pide with egg wash, sprinkle sesame seeds if desired, and transfer it to the oven.
  • Bake for 8-14 minutes or until the crust turns golden brown.
  • Once baked, brush with melted butter and garnish with fresh parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
