Easy Fried Cheese Bites
Crispy outside, gooey inside—these Easy Fried Cheese Bites use mozzarella string cheese and pantry staples for a quick, crowd-pleasing snack or appetizer.
- 10 oz mozzarella string cheese cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup Italian-style bread crumbs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs whisked
- 1/4 cup milk
- Cayenne pepper optional, for a spicy kick
Cut string cheese into 1-inch pieces. Freeze them for 10 minutes to help them hold their shape when frying.
Grab 3 bowls: Bowl 1: Fill with flour. Bowl 2: Beat 2 eggs with 1/4 cup milk. Bowl 3: Add Italian bread crumbs (add cayenne if you want it spicy)
Line them up in this order: flour → egg mix → bread crumbs.
Dip each cheese piece in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs. Press crumbs on to stick well.
Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a skillet. Heat to 350°F (or until bubbles rise around a wooden spoon handle).
Fry 5–7 pieces at a time for about 30 seconds, or until golden brown. Don’t overcrowd the pan.
Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place on a paper towel-lined plate.
Serve right away with warm marinara or ranch for dipping.
