Easy French Apple Cake
Ready in less than an hour, this cake is light, flavorful, and ideal for an afternoon treat or dessert.
- 2 large apples peeled and cubed
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1/2 cup applesauce
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon optional
- Pinch of salt
- Flaked almonds and raw sugar for topping optional
Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a 9-inch springform pan and grease the sides.
Whisk eggs and brown sugar until foamy. Add melted butter and applesauce, and mix until combined.
Stir in flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until just combined.
Fold in the apples and pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Optionally, top with flaked almonds and raw sugar.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean. Cool before serving.
