Crispy Loaded Fry Bread Tacos
Loaded Fry Bread Tacos are crispy, golden fry bread topped with savory seasoned beef, fresh vegetables, melty cheese, and optional extras for a build your own dinner that works for busy weeknights or casual gatherings.
For the fry bread
- 2 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup warm water
- Oil for frying
For the meat topping
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ small onion finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tsp chili powder
- ½ tsp cumin
- ½ tsp paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 cup enchilada sauce or taco sauce
Toppings
- Shredded lettuce
- Diced tomatoes
- Chopped white onion
- Chopped cilantro
- Shredded cheese such as cheddar or Mexican blend
- Optional sour cream jalapeños, salsa
Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Add warm water and stir into a soft dough.
Knead lightly, rest 10 minutes, divide into 6 discs.
Heat oil to 350°F. Fry dough 1 to 2 minutes per side until golden.
Brown ground beef with onion, then drain.
Add garlic, spices, and enchilada sauce. Simmer 5 to 7 minutes.
Top fry bread with beef, vegetables, cheese, and serve hot.
