Cozy Fashioned Rice Pudding
Fashioned Rice Pudding is a warm, creamy dessert made with tender rice, sweet milk, and fragrant vanilla for a comforting and nostalgic treat.
Main Ingredients
- ¾ cup uncooked white rice
- 1 ½ cups water
- 2 cups whole milk plus ½ cup reserved
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1 egg beaten
Additional Ingredients
- ⅔ cup raisins optional
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional for garnish
Cook ¾ cup rice with 1½ cups water by bringing it to a boil, then simmering covered for 15 to 20 minutes until tender.
Stir in 2 cups milk, sugar, and salt, cooking over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes until thick and creamy.
Whisk the beaten egg with ½ cup milk, then slowly stir it into the hot rice mixture and cook 2 more minutes until silky.
Remove from heat, add raisins, butter, and vanilla, let it thicken slightly, and serve warm or chilled with cinnamon if desired.
