Cozy Fashioned Rice Pudding

Fashioned Rice Pudding is a warm, creamy dessert made with tender rice, sweet milk, and fragrant vanilla for a comforting and nostalgic treat.

  • ¾ cup uncooked white rice
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • 2 cups whole milk plus ½ cup reserved
  • cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg beaten

Additional Ingredients

  • cup raisins optional
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon optional for garnish

Instructions
 

  • Cook ¾ cup rice with 1½ cups water by bringing it to a boil, then simmering covered for 15 to 20 minutes until tender.
  • Stir in 2 cups milk, sugar, and salt, cooking over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes until thick and creamy.
  • Whisk the beaten egg with ½ cup milk, then slowly stir it into the hot rice mixture and cook 2 more minutes until silky.
  • Remove from heat, add raisins, butter, and vanilla, let it thicken slightly, and serve warm or chilled with cinnamon if desired.
