Caramelized Onion Chip Dip

Caramelized Onion Chip Dip is a smooth, savory chip dip made with slow caramelized onions, cream cheese, and sour cream, balanced with gentle seasoning and a hint of depth from balsamic vinegar or Worcestershire sauce.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar optional
  • 1 to 2 tsp balsamic vinegar or Worcestershire sauce optional
  • 1 ½ cups sour cream
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives or green onions optional

Instructions
 

  • Cook onions with butter, oil, salt, and sugar over medium low heat until deep golden, then cool and chop.
  • Mix cream cheese with sour cream and seasonings until smooth.
  • Fold in onions and chives, then adjust seasoning.
  • Chill 1 to 2 hours before serving.
