Caramelized Onion Chip Dip
Caramelized Onion Chip Dip is a smooth, savory chip dip made with slow caramelized onions, cream cheese, and sour cream, balanced with gentle seasoning and a hint of depth from balsamic vinegar or Worcestershire sauce.
- 2 large yellow onions thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sugar optional
- 1 to 2 tsp balsamic vinegar or Worcestershire sauce optional
- 1 ½ cups sour cream
- 4 oz cream cheese softened
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- ¼ tsp salt adjust to taste
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh chives or green onions optional
Cook onions with butter, oil, salt, and sugar over medium low heat until deep golden, then cool and chop.
Mix cream cheese with sour cream and seasonings until smooth.
Fold in onions and chives, then adjust seasoning.
Chill 1 to 2 hours before serving.
