Baked Cheese Toast
This Baked Cheese Sandwich is irresistibly delicious with a creamy cheese sauce and crunchy almonds on top.
- 2 slices sandwich bread about 3cm thick
- 160 ml fresh milk
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 20 g all-purpose flour
- 15 g sugar
- 16 g unsalted butter
- 10 g sliced almonds
Melt the butter in a pan and turn off the heat. Sift the flour into the pan and stir until there are no lumps.
Add the milk and sugar. Stir gently in a clockwise direction over low heat until the mixture thickens, then turn off the heat.
Add the cheddar cheese slices and continue stirring until the cheese is fully melted.
Cut the sandwich bread into 4 pieces. Spread the cheese sauce over the surface of the bread, then sprinkle sliced almonds on top.
Preheat the oven and bake at 180°C (356°F) for 20 minutes. Remove and enjoy while hot!
